Houston County, Georgia
Houston County (pronounced house-ton, not Hugh-stun like the Texas city of Houston) is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. The Census 2016 estimates showing a population of 152,122. Its county seat is Perry.
It was created on May 15, 1821. The county is named not after the familiar Texas military hero but rather after Georgia governor John Houstoun (who used that spelling during his lifetime).
