Pike County, Georgia
Pike County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. The 2005 Census Estimate shows a population of 16,128. The county seat is Zebulon.
It was created on December 9, 1822, named for Zebulon Pike. Zebulon Pike was the son of a U.S. Army major of the same name. The career of Zebulon Pike (1779-1813), American soldier and explorer, was dominated by ambiguously motivated explorations of the American West. During one of these he unsuccessfully tried to climb the Colorado mountain named for him, Pike's Peak.
